I am a recovering alcoholic and have spent the last 15 years rebuilding my life. The longer I stayed sober, the more I had the opportunity to dig into why I drank in the first place. You see, my drinking was just a symptom of my problem. Take away the drinking, and there was a mountain of a mess for me to work on. I’ve spent the last decade and a half studying and overcoming addiction — one day at a time.
A light bulb went off for me just a few years into my recovery — I was amazed by how small, basic adjustments could drastically alter my life. I was blown away by how what I was learning and developing in my recovery pertained to all areas of my life. And If I followed a few simple guidelines, it wasn’t just a way to stop drinking, but a way to overcome any obstacle, any addiction, any roadblock.
I decided to apply every principle I had learned from my recovery to my health and wellness journey and was astonished to find that it not only worked but allowed me to experience life on a level I had never known before.
At 43, I am the oldest I have ever been, but I am, by far, in the best shape I have ever been — mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually! And I have zero desire to stop growing. A fire burns within me to be the best I can be daily so I can experience all that life has to offer. I want to experience every last drop: the highs, the lows, and everything in between. I know I went through what I did to not just keep it to myself but to help others that are living the same dang 24 hrs over, and over and over again, who are stuck, defeated, hopeless, depressed, and ready to give up.
I started drinking when I was 13 years old, and any addiction, bad habit, or roadblock we have has very little to do with the “addiction” or “habit” itself and everything to do with what is at the core. Why did I turn to drinking in the first place? Why am I turning to food in the first place? Why am I turning to _______ fill in the blank.
At West Coast Wellness, we specialize in getting to the root of the problem. We aren’t a fitness company; yes, we can give you the PERFECT customized fitness routine, and we will, but we believe true change comes from working from the INSIDE OUT.
We are turning the “fitness” industry on its head. Instead of focusing on the EXTERNAL — a number on the scale or achieving the perfect arms — we focus on going INTERNAL and doing the hard emotional work. It isn’t until you find and heal the root problem that you will ever experience sustainable, long-term results.
Everyone can lose a few pounds, and everyone can abstain from drinking or overspending for a few days, weeks, or months, but the true work is done when you can sustain your weight loss for your entire life, when you can quit drinking forever, and when you never need to turn to food, shopping, sugar, social media, or any “drug” ever again in your life!
West Coast Wellness specializes in one-on-one customized coaching, targeting the root causes of weight loss challenges, addictions, and preventable diseases, leveraging lifestyle changes for sustainable results.
